When you hear “Cinco de Mayo,” what comes to mind? For me personally, I think of my Mexican mother explaining the real meaning of the holiday while sipping on a margarita. In Puebla, where the holiday is primarily celebrated in Mexico, it is known as “El dia de la Batalla de Puebla”. The holiday is a commemoration of Mexico’s victory over French forces in the Battle of Puebla.
This winning of this significant battle has become a celebration of Mexican culture and is now widely celebrated in the United States. In honor of my heritage, I’m happy to share some wonderful margarita recipes to toast to the the historical win as the Battle of Puebla.
