Fall is almost here! Time to take advantage of the cooler temperatures and fall foliage by taking your workout outdoors. Here are some fun ways to burn calories outside of your gym this fall.
Trail Running
If you like to run, the fall is the perfect time to ditch the treadmill and hit the trails. Running on a trail helps to develop different muscle groups than a treadmill allowing you to improve your speed and avoid injuries.
Hiking
This is a great way to build strength in your glutes, quadriceps, hamstrings and your core. Plus, you will have the added benefits of nice views and fresh air.
Cycling
A fun way to increase your strength and stamina. Cycling uses all the major muscle groups and is easy to do even if you are recovering from an injury.
Raking
Although commonly thought of as a chore, raking is actually a great calorie burner and workout for your upper body, back and core. Switching hands when raking every 10-minutes will help avoid overuse and injury.
Rollerblading
Similar to hiking, rollerblading is also a great way to strengthen your glutes, quadriceps, hamstrings and your core with the added benefit of strengthening your hip abductors and adductors. You’ll burn nearly as many calories as you do running and put less stress on your joints.
