Gum base, often found in sticky candies and chewing gum is made of petroleum, or synthetic latex rubber.
Candy that contains gum base: Orbit Gum
Tertiary Butylhydroquinone
A food preservative derived from butnane, also found in lighter fluid.
Candy that contains tertiary butylhydroquinone: Butterfinger Candy Bars.
Castoreum
Sometimes hidden behind the label:”natural flavors,” castoreum can be derived from beaver urine. (Yes, we’re serious.)
