Have you priced boutique yoga studios and gym memberships lately? They’re becoming crazy expensive! Even worse, that monthly fee comes out of your bank account regardless of if you actually had the time to step foot into the place. How rude! Yes, that was a Stephanie Tanner from Full House reference, but that’s how we feel! Luckily, there is a plethora of inexpensive apps for your busy self to get your sweat on whenever you can squeeze it in and in the comfort of your own home! That’s a win/win/win in our book which is why this is the main way we workout these days. Check out our favorites in no particular order.
1. Sweat by Kayla
Price: 19.99/month
Kayla is an Instagram sensation with 9.7 Million Followers and she’s been selling the PDF version of her HITT, High-Intensity Interval Training, workouts on her website for years. Now with the Sweat App you gain immediate access to all of her Bikini Body Workouts as well as the HELP “Healthy Eating and Lifestyle Plan” eBook. These HITT workouts only take 28 minutes and require almost no equipment, usually only dumbbells and a bench, so it’s perfect if all you have is a backyard or a living room to work with.
2. Runkeeper
Price: Free
This is a simple GPS tracker for walking and running. It’s great for those who want to log quick morning walk or want to train for a marathon. One of our favorite features is that you can turn on audio updates of your time and pace so you can relax and enjoy yourself without having to constantly check your screen to monitor your speed or make sure you finish at a particular time. Additionally, you can rate your run, track your progress, keep personal records, and even start a running group to achieve goals with your friends!
3. Yoga with Adrienne
Price: Free
Ok, this one isn’t technically its own app but you can follow Adrienne within the YouTube app so we think it counts. I was surprisingly introduced to Adrienne by my 20-something year old brothers who are the last people you would think would be into home yoga. After following along with her for a few videos I totally get the hype and why she has over 3 million subscribers. Adrienne is easy to follow, fun, and it’s wonderful that you can pause and rewind as needed instead of trying to keep up in a studio class resulting in never really nailing a particular pose.
4. Sweatcoin
Price: Free
Need something more to motivate you to exercise? How about getting paid? Enter Sweatcoin. This app actually pays you to walk or run! The app uses your phone’s accelerometers and GPS location to verify your outdoor steps and converts it into Sweatcoins. These Sweatcoins can then be exchanged within the app for goods, services, and experiences like yoga classes, exercise shoes, and Apple Watches. You can even donate your Sweatcoins to one of their charity partners if you’re looking to burn some calories and make the world a better place at the same time.
5. Yoga Studio
This is a great app for yoga lovers on the go! Download videos to do yoga anywhere without streaming away your data. Put together your own routine and store it in the favorites section, or play a beginner, intermediate or advanced class video. The “Poses” tab lets you look up individual poses if you’re unsure how to do something or need a modification.
6. Seconds Pro Interval Timer
Price: Free
This is the cheapest and easiest route if you like to create your own workouts full of exercises you know you like to do or if you have a trainer that has already written out a plan for you. This app helps you organize your exercises and creates flow from one to the next. All you do is manually enter the moves and number of sets in the order you want and it will launch a timed routine for you! No more switching back and forth between your notes app and your timer app.
7. Pear
