Simple Summer Fruit Face Masks

by April Donelson

Pina Colada Exfoliator- This mask is not for anyone with sensitive skin, since it is using such a strong exfoliator (black lava sea salt and pineapple, which is a tough fruit) it does however contain coconut oil so it still soothes the skin while exfoliating. The enzymes in the pineapple will also help cleanse and clarify your skin.

Chop fresh pineapple into small pieces and muddle in a bowl, add black lava sea salt and a significant amount of coconut oil, mix and put on the face for about ten minutes. This can also be used as an actual face or body scrub as well for non-sensitive skin.

Honey Blueberry Mask-This mask is also a little bit of an exfoliator, but not as harsh as the first mask and is fine for any type of skin. The antioxidants in blueberries will instantly brighten the skin and the small sugar grains will add a slight exfoliating factor when applied.

In a blender or food processor combine a handful of blueberries, a teaspoon of honey, a tablespoon of coconut oil and a teaspoon of regular sugar. (Try finding an organic granulated sugar.) Once blended apply with your fingers to the face, let it fully dry (about 10-15 minutes). Remove with a washcloth and warm water. And don’t worry, it won’t end up with a blue face, the oil that is added will help prevent that!

Banana Watermelon Mask- Perfect for oily and acne prone skin or dry skin this mask will hydrate and lock in moisture deep into the skin because of the watermelon, it also is a natural sunscreen (who knew!!). The potassium from the banana will add moisturizing and hydrating benefits, but best of all it smells amazing!

Simply cut about a ¼ of a small watermelon (no seeds) up into small pieces and place in a bowl, mash ½ of banana and add to the watermelon. Mix both fruits together thoroughly and then apply to your face. Let it dry for about 15 minutes and rinse off with cold water.
