Jay Leno
Late Night’s Jay Leno certainly enjoys his collector cars with some serious horsepower under the hood, but he also has had an eye on environmentally friendly transportation technologies. His most coveted accomplishment is his biodiesel-powered EcoJet has recently claimed its fame with its ability to run on biodiesel and at the same time putting out an impressive 750 horsepower. And, to host his collection of green automobiles? Leno converted his 20,000 sq-ft garage to run on solar and wind power. Leonardo DiCaprio
In 2011, Environmentalist Leo DiCaprio became the first recipient of a 2012 Fisker Karma, one of the most environmental-friendly vehicles on the market with a $100,000 price tag (but, with its sleek design, it makes the Toyota Prius look like a marshmallow! ). Then in 2012, he officially partnered with Fisker Automotive, which in turn is supporting his Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation Charity. In a public statement, DiCaprio said, “My foundation supports efforts to secure a sustainable future for our planet and all its inhabitants. I am delighted to be working with Fisker Automotive to promote this shared vision.”
Arnold Schwarzenegger
Throughout his run as Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger has promoted green technologies throughout the Golden State. Terminator turned Governor was one of the first to own GM’s Hydrogen Hummer in 2005. In a goal for cleaner air through zero fuel emissions, the notoriously gas-thirsty Hummer H2 is completely powered by hydrogen. GM hopes California’s use of hydrogen will be an example for the rest of the country.
Will Ferrell
Funny man Will Ferrell was the first American to get his hands on the BMW Hydrogen 7 in 2007, preceding his role as Ricky Bobby in Talladega Nights. It was the first hydrogen-powered luxury sedan meant for daily use, represents a major stop in reducing harmful CO2 emissions. The car was considered a milestone in bringing forward hydrogen as a sustainable fuel for individual transportation.
