D.I.Y. Vegan friendly manicure

by Guest Writer

I’m the type of person that, if my nails are painted, they’re always painted black. I usually let the nail polish chip away slowly then paint over them again and again with the same color. Gross, I know. Every now and then I might paint them a dark blue color if I’m feeling wild.

The other night, out of sheer boredom, I decided to give myself my own, D.I.Y. manicure. The catch? I used all vegan friendly products. I tend to use vegan friendly bath and beauty products to ensure that I’m not supporting companies that test on animals or use animal byproducts.

Here’s what I used:

To start out I trimmed my nails and cleaned them with EO French Lavender Hand Soap. EO products are cruelty free and contain aloe and chamomile to leave your hands feeling soft and rejuvenated.

To paint my nails I used a few coats of Julep’s Shari color nail polish as an undercoat and one coat of Oscar overtop of it. Julep’s nail polishes are vegan friendly, free of formaldehyde and cruelty free!

Disclaimer: The only downside to these nail colors was that the base coat slightly separated in the drying process. Don’t worry though, it’s an easy fix! Just wait for the first coat to dry and apply a thicker second coat.

Lastly, after my nails were dry, I coated some Hempz Vanilla Plum Body Lotion all over my hands to make them soft and smooth! Hempz is also vegan and cruelty free containing hemp seed oil and shea butter to leave your skin feeling silky smooth.
