Planning your big day but concerned about keeping the environment in mind? Below are three of my favorite ideas for your planning process. Don’t worry, no Mason Jars here!
1. Go Paperless
It’s the digital age so try to ditch the paper! Send e-vites and create a wedding website to help share details with your guests. The Knot has some great templates to choose from. If you must use print-outs, use recycled paper. On the big day, don’t print out programs or menus for each guest. Instead, go for more sustainable options of cycled windowpanes or blackboards. They’ll add rustic charm to your decor and cut down on waste. Win win.
2. Have a Donation Plan
There will be leftover food so make a plan ahead of time! Contact a local shelter and see if they accept donations then work with the coordinator at your venue to arrange a drop off after the reception.
3. Skip Traditional Favors
Small knickknacks can get left on the table, avoid the waste and donate the money you would spend on favors to an eco-friendly charity. If you want each guest to go home with something consider a locally sourced, edible treat like honey from Catskill Provisions. Sweet and sustainable!
Are you planning an eco-friendly wedding? I’d love to hear some of your ideas!
