Natural Remedies For Dry Winter Skin

by Stephanie

Dry, itchy, flaky skin is a common problem for most people throughout the harsh, cold winter season. There are many natural ways and eco-friendly products that you can use to help keep your skin hydrated and that help fight these environmental radicals. Cleansing, Exfoliating and moisturizing are important steps to keep your skin smooth after being out in the winter cold. Here are some times to keep in mind:

-Exfoliate before a shower to take off dead skin cells accumulated from the cold weather. Try using a paraben free scrub or a DIY scrub with ½ cup of course sugar and a cup of coconut oil.

-Take your showers in lukewarm water. Hot water is harsh on your skin, so try to take baths or showers with water temperatures that are closer to room temperature to prevent more damage on dry skin.

-Keep Hydrated! Staying hydrated from the inside will help your skin on the outside. Dehydrated skin makes your skin look dull and dry. Fill up on liquids and try to avoid dehydrating elements like alcohol and caffeine.

-Ditch the harsh soaps – many products contain chemicals, alcohol, and other artificial fragrances that can make your dry skin issue worse off.  Stick with all-natural, organic, and eco-friendly based products.

-Moisturize with natural, organic, eco-friendly ingredients such as: cocoa, jojoba, and over plant-based oils. Anti-aging with sunscreen is also a plus to help prevent fine lines and damage from sun rays because even during the winter the sun can cause damage to your skin.

Personally my skin is naturally dry and in the winter it makes it even worse. Here are some products that can be helpful that feature natural ingredients:

There are many natural, organic, eco-friendly products available for you to choose from. It’s important to treat your skin naturally and you can take that step by avoiding products with harsh chemicals.
