Parenthood inspires people to think differently about safety and health concerns. With so many toxins and chemicals in every product, a few notable celebrities have made more conscious and outspoken efforts to encourage others to make the switch to be eco-parents.

Now, with the anticipated birth of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s bundle-to-be, and the recent arrival of Kim and Kanye’s baby girl, North West, Eco18 takes a look at some of the most inspiring eco-friendly moms in Hollywood who are looking out for Mother Earth.

Jessica Alba: After her second child joined the world, Jessica Alba really put the wheels in motion to make eco-friendly household items more available, and Honest Company was born. Alba teamed up with partner Christopher Gavigan to create a line of toxic-free products made from safe and natural chemicals. Her site provides information on her Honest baby products and household items, and even bundles them for a monthly subscription to help parents save money. Alba is also actively involved with charities such as Safer Chemicals Healthy Families, ONE, Habitat for Humanity, Project HOME and more.

Natalie Portman: This Oscar winning actress and Harvard graduate has been a green advocate since she was a kid, adopting a vegetarian diet, even broadcasting songs about recycling in a video called “Recycle It!”. Not only does the talented actress design a vegan footwear line, but she avoids all animal products, fur, feathers, or leather. Since giving birth to her son, Aleph, in 2011, the green mom has been practicing what she preaches, and teaches her son about loving the environment and animals alike.

Alicia Silverstone: A long-time advocate of the vegan lifestyle and all things green, this newbie mom instills her eco values in her young son, Bear Blu. She keeps a regular eco-friendly blog called The Kind Life which is an online extension of her book “The Kind Diet” in which she shares about living a healthy and happy life to the fullest. Now she’s setting her sights on outward beauty with a new line of natural makeup products, Juice Beauty.

Miranda Kerr– After giving birth to her son Flynn in 2011, this former Victoria’s Secret angel, started an all-natural skincare line for both mom and baby. Kora Organics do not contain sulphates, parabens, synthetic fragrance, synthetic colours, T.E.A., D.E.A., glycols, silicones, PEGS, ethoxylate or formaldehyde commonly found in non-organic skincare. At home, she practices baby steps when it comes to making her family green, such as recycling waste, using eco-friendly light bulbs, avoiding plastic bags, and using only organic products around the house.

Gisele Bundchen: Growing up around the Brazilian Rainforest, this long-time environmentalist turned supermodel was deemed an environmental ambassador by the United Nations in 2009. After giving birth to her two children, Benjamin and Vivian, this eco-passionate mom partnered with AOLKids to launch “Gisele and the Green Team”, an amusing online cartoon depicting Gisele and group of teen supermodels blessed with eco superpowers. The goal of the web series is to find ways to educate kids and adults about a subject very important to me and what should be to them, saving the planet. She also provides green tips on her website.
