If you have a big vacation or trip coming up, chances are getting in shape to look your best for it is on the top of your mind. Traveling doesn’t mean your fitness goals should end there. Here are a few tips to squeeze in a workout while traveling.
GO FOR A RUNNING RUN
If you are staying somewhere with warm weather, set 30 minutes aside to get up and go for a morning jog before you start whatever you have planned for the day. Getting up earlier also allows you to beat the crowds at the hotel breakfast.
UTILIZE HOTEL GYM
Most hotels do have a gym with at least a few pieces of cardio equipment and free weights. Set aside some time each day to hit the gym. As short workout is better than no workout at all and it will make it easier to get back on track with your fitness routine when you return from your trip.
EXPLORE BY BIKE
Rather than hopping on a bus to explore your surroundings, rent a bike for the day and explore at your own pace. Riding a bike is a great form of cardio and it’s easy on your joints. Plus, it’s a pollution-free mode of transportation!
DO YOGA
Yoga is easy to do no matter where you are staying. Take 30 minutes out of your schedule to do some yoga in your room. No mat? No problem! You can use a towel. You can even take your towel to the beach, park or rooftop to workout outdoors while soaking in some sun.
GO DANCING
We sometimes forget how great of a workout dancing can be. If you are traveling in South America, schedule a salsa or tango dancing class. You can also visit a local bar or nightclub or even dance to your favorite tunes while getting ready in your room.
VISIT A LOCAL FITNESS STUDIO
Many boutique fitness studios offer free or reduced rate classes for first-timers. Do some research and find a studio that is near where you are staying and book a class. Registering for a class forces you to commit to a specific time to workout. Local studios are also a great way to get a feel for the culture in the city you are visiting.
