Wellness Monday: How Fear Holds Us Back and How To Conquer it

by

Happy Monday! Today we wanted to touch on the subject of fear because we know it can be paralyzing. Fear can hold us back from achieving our goals in life and working to the best of our ability.  The truth is that you’re not alone – everyone feels fear at some point in their lives and that’s okay. We are not here to tell you that you need to be fearless but instead encourage you to find ways to kick fear aside and go after your dreams anyways. Here are four ways you can do that:

1. Feel the fear and do it anyway.

Fear won’t go away. It’s an emotion that comes and goes so we need to prepare to accept that. The real test is doing what you fear the most anyway. Fear can only win and get the best of you if you don’t take action and push forward.

2. Failure is not a bad thing.

Many of us have been trained to think that failing is bad and therefore we create fears around taking action because of it.  Don’t fear to fail because the tough times are there only to help us become the best version of ourselves.

3. Use positive affirmations.

Positive thoughts always help guide us to think more positively about a situation we are fearful of. Utilize affirmations to create a more positive, success-oriented mindset. Affirmations are powerful statements that describe the reality you want to create – and lead to positive results.

4. Ask yourself: what’s the worst thing that can happen?

The reality is that most of the times things work out and those fearful scenarios we play out in our heads never happen. At the end of the day, if they did happen, you will find a way to get through it and learn from it.
